My department has a Canon ImageRunner 5000 Office Copier. It has a scan option. When I press it, it tells me it requires optional equipment. The only port (that I see) on it is a legacy parallel printer port. My laptop doesn't have that kind of port though, and I'd much prefer to have the documents sent over USB or anything faster if possible. I only want to scan -- I.E. NO PRINTING. If I MUST get a USB to parallel converter thing, fine, but otherwise,
1) Does anybody know how to scan with this thing?

2) Where's the best physical port for the purpose? I don't really want to use the email thing on it, but I do see it has a 'mailbox' system (?).
